- North Florida Regional Medical Center
Since a group of physicians founded North Florida Regional Medical Center in 1972, the hospital has provided the community with integrated healthcare services that exceeds the needs and expectations of those they serve. Today, NFRMC is a 325-bed, full-service medical and surgical acute care center that offers state of the art technology and a highly trained and compassionate staff. NFRMC has more than 400 physicians in more than 40 different specialties. In late June, NFRMC will open The Cancer Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center that will provide comprehensive cancer care. The 25,000-square-foot Cancer Center will house Radiation Oncology, CyberKnife® Center and Rapid ARC technology. The lobby will feature an information resource center, chapel/meditation room and Bella Café coffee shop. A patient navigator will also be on hand to guide patients through the entire cancer care process from the first appointment to the end of treatment.

- Shands at UF
Shands at UF is a private, not-for-profit hospital known for specialized, consultative care for critically ill patients. It is one of the most comprehensive hospitals and one of the leading referral medical centers in the Southeast. Shands at UF is continually acknowledged as one of the best hospitals in the nation for dedication to patient care, education and research. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Florida Health Science Center, and more than 500 physicians representing 110 medical specialties work with a team of health care professionals to provide quality care for patients.
The Shands at UF Cancer Hospital, a $388 million investment to bring additional state-of-the-art cancer treatments to North Central Florida, will open in November. The 500,000-square-foot facility will house 192 private inpatient beds for a variety of patients, including those receiving diagnostic and therapeutic oncology services. It also will include a Critical Care Center for emergency and trauma related services. In April, the University of Florida and Shands HealthCare leaders opened a 30-bed Shands at UF Neuro Intensive Care Unit for critically ill patients with brain disease and injuries.

- Shands AGH
As Gainesville’s first hospital, Shands AGH has served people throughout the region since 1928 by providing a full spectrum of adult healthcare services. In the fall of last year, Shands HealthCare officials announced that they could no longer sustain financial losses at Shands AGH based on budget cuts and the nation’s ongoing economic crisis. Officials will relocate its programs and services to Shands at UF and the cancer hospital.
- Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center
The Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center is part of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, a comprehensive and integrated health care delivery system that provides qualified clinical programs and services to veterans. The VA offers primary health care services, and highly specialized, technologically advanced clinical care. The VA offers two hospitals, two satellite clinics and several community-based outpatient clinics. Operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the center supports teaching and research through its affiliation with the University of Florida Health Science Center.
