Affiliated Pet Emergency Services
If you’re a pet owner, chances are there has been a time when your pet was sick and the veterinarian’s office was closed. At times like this, who do you call? Affiliated Pet Emergency Services (APES) offers an answer. In 1986, APES was founded by a group of local vets to provide after-hours emergency medical care to pets in times of need.
Today, APES is the designated regional emergency and critical care facility for the public as well as veterinary practices and hospitals in North Central Florida. Licensed by the State of Florida and a member of the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society, APES is growing in our community.
With the oversight of local vets, APES will move to a new facility in early 2008 built by CalRey Construction. APES board members include Drs. Richard Goldman, Ray Henley, Michael Harbin, Jack Sameck and Denise Seufert.
“Our concern from the beginning was to fill an important gap by delivering exceptional critical and emergency care services, and always for the best interests of pets,” Dr. Richard Goldman said. “We’re excited about the new facility because we can offer more services and continue to grow with the needs of the community.”
The new facility will have a specialized staff and state-of-the-art equipment. These resources will help APES provide services that include hospitalization, intensive care monitoring, blood banking, surgery, oxygen therapy, and case and medical record management.
A pet ER gives pet owners somewhere to go when the vet’s office is closed. Problems like hypothermia, poisoning, and respiratory or gastric distress don’t necessarily happen during your vet’s office hours. These can be scary moments when your pet’s life is on the line, and it’s comforting to know there is a place like APES that can give your pet the care it needs.
