Deborah Minck: 10 Things I Love About Gainesville
10. From Butterflies to Beethoven – Culture, arts and education are all available year round. From regular visits with my son to the Butterfly Garden and University of Florida museum for a learning experience to date nights at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Center with my husband for world-class performances, Gainesville is a place unlike any other.
9. Health & Wellness – Pioneers like Joe Cirulli and his world-renowned Gainesville Health and Fitness Center have made Gainesville a great place to live a long, healthy life.
8. Did I Mention I Like Food? – Thanks to the great diversity of cuisine throughout Gainesville and the nearby areas, no two nights have to be the same!
7. Location, Location, Location –With two beautiful coastlines just over an hour away and several major cities surrounding us, we are located in the perfect place for a variety of same-day excursions.
6. Homes are Where the Heart Is – As president of the Realtor Association, I am proud to be associated with the remarkable realtors in Alachua County whose livelihood is tied to the betterment of their clients and community.
5. A Good Name is Better than Gold – Rarely do I go anywhere that I don’t find a familiar face. It’s refreshing to live in a place that is conducive to the establishment of relationships.
4. Change of Seasons – Fall is one of my favorite times of year, with cool evenings, Gator football and the change of colors on the trees. It makes you thankful to be in the heart of Florida!
3. What Life Should Feel Like – As a resident of the beautiful Town of Tioga neighborhood, I love our neighbors, friends and family who also call this nationally acclaimed community their home.
2. First Things First – My church family is here. The Rock of Gainesville is my church home that keeps me grounded and focused on what is important. I am grateful for my pastors, George and Suzanne Brantley, and their commitment and vision for Gainesville.
1. Home Sweet Home – My husband of 13 years is a third-generation Gainesville resident, and along with my 3-and-a-half-year-old son, our other family members also live in Gainesville or are in the process of relocating here! G
