Dining Alachua Style
Mulberry Landing
HAVING LUNCH from the buffet at Mulberry landing is like sitting down at Grandma’s for a delicious home cooked meal. The fried chicken is crispy, moist and tender to the bone. Mashed potatoes, made with real potatoes, and hand breaded fried okra compliment the rest of the buffet. Garden fresh vegetables, home style Cole slaw and dressings, made form scratch, add to the mouthwatering delights found on the salad bar. Make sure to save room for dessert, the best part of any meal! Freshly baked coconut cakes and decadent double chocolate cakes are always a staple at Mulberry Landing. Grandma would be pleased with the filled-to-the-brim peach cobbler and the Alachua Famous Three Milk Cake.
Gracious southern hospitality is always practiced by the wait staff, who keep the sweet tea flowing nonstop! Located halfway down Main Street in Alachua – it’s always well worth the trip.
Ristorante Deneno
QUALITY WINE glasses and all the other accoutrements one expects from a fine-dinning restaurant. Servers are surprisingly knowledgeable and caring. There is an open pizza kitchen to keep you entertained.
But you won’t much care about all that stuff when you begin eating Chef Carol Doherty’s Northern Italian food. A warm salad of field greens with sautéed green apples, roasted, sugarglazed pecans and shaved fennel tossed with delicate balsamic vinaigrette was an absolute knockout – perfectly balanced. The glazed pecans were so darkly toasted yet sweet and delicious that everyone at my table was fighting over them.
