FOR DAVID Johnston, getting into the family business always seemed like the right choice. He just never dreamed the business would change as much as it has.

Johnston Photography opened its doors in Gainesville in 1960. Back then, it was less complicated. Now Johnston runs a high tech digital studio. “Digital photography is a lot more powerful, and it allows us to provide better service for our clients,” he said. “It helps me to deliver an artistically enhanced product quicker.”

The image is originated in the camera but it takes a skilled operator to make it complete. “The client can sit next to me, and they suggest the enhancements to be made,” Johnston said. “Having this input from my clients is very important to me. The end results are received with so much enthusiasm that it makes the photography I do very rewarding.”

Johnston Photography is a full-service agency, providing layout and design work, commercial work, head shots, portraits, children, families, weddings, and restorations, as well as oil paintings.

“Our goal is for everyone to have a good experience from the first phone call to the end product,” he said. G
